Biography of Tun Dr Mahathir

       Mahathir bin Mohammad or better known as 'Tun M' was born in Malaysia on 10 July 1925. He is a Malaysian politician,a doctor and he was the first person that appointed as Prime Minister of Malaysia for two time which is 4th and 7th. Mahathir is the youngest of nine siblings. He received his early education at Seberang Perak Malay School for two years before entering the government's English school which later changed its name to Sultan Abdul Hamid College, where his father was the head teacher.

On 1965, he was elected as a member of Supreme Council of UMNO and on Pilihan Raya Umum (PRU) 1969, he compete in PRU but he was defeated by PAS representative. On 1976 he was appointed as deputy Prime Minister and the next two years he was appointed as Minister Of Trade and Industry where he led several mission to promote investment. In 1981, after Hussein Onn resigned as the third Prime Minister for health reasons, Mahathir became the President of UMNO and the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Among the high profile project developed during his administration including the Penang Bridge, the Petronas Twin Towers, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Multimedia Highway Corridor (MSC), the Putrajaya Administrative Center and the International Sepang Circuit. He retired in October 2003, he was named as the "Father of Malaysia's Modernization" for successfully developing Malaysia into a new industrial country that is respected among developing countries.

On 8 January of 2018, he was announced as candidate of Prime Minister for Pakatan Harapan (PH). He contested for the Langkawi Parliamentary seat against the incumbent, Ir Nawawi Ahmad and won. As agreed, at the age of 92, Mahathir became the oldest head of government in the world when he was sworn in as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 10 May 2018 in front of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V.

On 24 February 2020, Mahathir announced his resignation as Prime Minister and sent a resignation letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. In addition, Mahathir also resigned as chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU), who also announced that the party was pulling out of the Pakatan Harapan coalition in support of their leader. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has accepted Mahathir's resignation, but His Majesty has reappointed him to hold the post in the interim until a new prime minister is appointed.
